About the Role
Waters Church believes that the Church should be the most creative place on the planet. We’re looking for a Social Media Manager who combines creative vision, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping people connect with Christ and the local church.
You’ll lead the day-to-day strategy and management of Waters Church’s social media presence. Working closely with our Creative Team and campus ministries, you’ll turn church priorities, stories, and messages into engaging content that connects with our community and welcomes new people.
This is a full-time position. Regular attendance at Waters Church’s Sunday services is expected.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a social media strategy that supports the mission, values, and ministry priorities of Waters Church.
- Own the social media content calendar, coordinating campaigns, weekly content, and coverage of services and special events.
- Collaborate with the Creative Team and campus ministries to identify stories, gather content, and promote opportunities to get involved.
- Write compelling captions and adapt content for each platform while maintaining a consistent church voice.
- Create and publish content, including short-form videos, photos, stories, and graphics, in collaboration with the Creative Team.
- Manage Waters Church’s social media accounts, including scheduling, publishing, and maintaining accurate profile information.
- Monitor comments and direct messages, respond with warmth and care, and refer pastoral or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Track performance, share regular reports, and use insights to improve content and audience engagement.
- Stay informed about platform changes, content trends, and new opportunities relevant to the church’s mission.
- Coordinate content approvals and help ensure published content meets church standards for quality, accuracy, and appropriate permissions.
- Support internal projects as needed (i.e. video testimonies, weekend graphics, etc.)
Experience and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for an organization, brand, ministry, or business.
- Strong understanding of social media publishing, community management, and platform analytics.
- Experience building content calendars and coordinating multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and consistently in the church’s voice.
- Ability to create engaging short-form video, photo, and graphic content using relevant editing and design tools.
- A portfolio or examples of social media work that show creativity, sound judgment, and results.

- Understanding of social media platforms, their audiences, and how to adapt content for each.
- Ability to interpret social media analytics and use insights to improve content, engagement, and reach.
- Ability to engage with the online community with warmth, discretion, and sound judgment, referring pastoral or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Ability to coordinate with the Creative Team and campus ministries, communicate priorities, and guide projects from concept through publishing.
- Be in agreement with the Waters Church Staff Covenant and Core Beliefs.
- Regular attendance at Waters Church’s Sunday services.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing social media for a church, nonprofit, or organization with multiple locations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable creative tools.
- Experience with photography, videography, or motion graphics.
- Experience managing paid social media campaigns.
- A degree in marketing, communications, media, or a related field.
