We are at the point where God is going to light the fuse—let’s go forward together!
Nothing has made the need for technology more evident than the new COVID landscape in which we find ourselves. The pandemic has magnified the fear, loneliness, and sadness felt by many people as they grieve and strive for some sense of control in a seemingly out of control world. However, we have the answer to this societal emptiness. We are called to be the light in a dark world… “whosoever will let him come.” (John 3:16). Sometimes that “whosoever” is a completely different person than we would expect.
We have to ask ourselves what would Paul the Apostle do with today’s church and available technology?
He wrote to Timothy,
“When you come, bring… the books, and above all the parchments.”
(2 Timothy 4:13)
Parchments were the TV screen of their day. If you wanted to communicate something, you used parchments. Paul was able to bring the Gospel to Rome and raise up many men behind him to pastor churches all the while being on death row by the use of parchments. And, because he made that decision to communicate the Gospel, we have the New Testament today. It is our birthright to embrace and utilize any type of technology to advance the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We do not know what God is going to do with that Word, but we do know Jesus is coming back soon. We have to do everything we can to get the message out as far and wide as possible.
This new era has demanded that we embrace the changes in our way of life to present the Gospel in new and exciting ways. You never know who is on the other side of that pixel and how that person’s heart and soul can be touched by a modern-day “parchment”.
Join with us in investing your gift in this Mission on Legacy Weekend October 3rd and 4th.
As always, we will continue to tithe back out 10% to Gospel-focused missionary organizations. As part of this offering, we will be partnering with organizations that rescue, support, and provide the Hope of Jesus Christ to the victims of sex-trafficking.
